Taiwan is a small island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. It is home to nearly 24 million people who share a rich culture of language, art, culture, and food.
Foreigners may not be familiar with some of the delectable dishes that have satisfied the palates of the locals, but in 2015, CNN broadcasted a special on the culture of Taiwanese food in and around the country. They focused on the history and evolution of food that has its roots in the Min Nan, Teochew and Hokkien Chinese communities, along with Japanese traditional cooking. (CNN, 2015)
It is hard to choose the “best” dish as individual tastes vary; however, there are four dishes that are easy to prepare due to the availability of the ingredients. These include cucumber salad, beef noodle soup, deep-fried sweet potato ball, and bubble tea.
